Jared B. Margolis

Jared B. Margolis is a Principal in MK Asset Management. He has been involved in the real estate marketplace since the early 1990s.

Prior to founding MK Asset Management, Mr. Margolis was involved with the property management and leasing of an over 3.0 million square foot portfolio for Industrial Building & Development Company (IBD), a private entrepreneurial firm that manages, leases, and develops industrial and retail real estate for its own portfolio. Mr. Margolis has also managed commercial and residential associations and rental buildings.

In September 1997, Mr. Margolis moved to Prime Group Realty Trust (NYSE: PGE), a real estate investment trust that owns, develops, manages and leases mixed-use real estate. At PGE, Mr. Margolis served as the Leasing and Development Manager for its Industrial Division where he participated in the development of speculative and build-to-suit industrial facilities and supervised the leasing of new and existing space as well as conducted strategic land sales and acquisitions.

Mr. Margolis also serves as Executive VP of RSC and Associates and has been involved in the development of a range of property types from single-family homes to industrial buildings to vertical mixed-use developments to multifamily apartment residential buildings.

With invaluable experience in master planning, zoning, development, leasing, redevelopment, and management Mr. Margolis has been involved in Chicago property management as a service provider and an owner and uses this experience to come at management issues from a multitude of vantage points and lend his expertise as an owner and developer to your management issues.

Additionally, Mr. Margolis maintains an active Illinois Real Estate Sales License. He is a member of the Council of Logistics Management and is an active volunteer for the Jewish United Fund and is on the YBO Board of the Parkways Foundation. In 2001, Mr. Margolis was nominated for the Chicago Chapter NAIOP Suburban Industrial Transaction of the Year.

J. Haakon Knutson

J. Haakon Knutson is a Principal of MK Asset Management. Mr. Knutson is a licensed Illinois attorney with a background in real estate and marketing. He received his B.A. from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and his J.D. from Loyola University in Chicago. Mr. Knutson is also a licensed real estate broker.

Mr. Knutson began his career in advertising as an account executive with a large agency in Chicago. He worked on several marquee agency accounts including Bank of America, GE Capital, Crestar, The American Bar Association and Bally’s Fitness. His responsibilities included compiling and managing six-figure production budgets, negotiating third-party purchasing agreements, and client management.

After finishing law school Mr. Knutson went on to work in the Membership and Marketing Division of the American Bar Association where his team was responsible for generating over $63 million in revenue and managing a $1.5 million production budget. At the ABA, Mr. Knutson served as a liaison between the Association and third-party vendors by organizing comprehensive bidding procedures, negotiating purchasing contracts, media agreements, and implementing production budgets.

Additionally, Mr. Knutson versed in Illinois property law and is a member of the American Bar Association and its Real Property division. He also serves as a volunteer attorney with the Lawyer’s Committee for Better Housing, a pro bono organization that represents low-income defendants facing eviction.
